Willapa Bay in southwestern Washington is surrounded by forests, salt marshes and freshwater wetlands, and is home to a large variety of migratory and resident birds and wildlife. Willapa National Wildlife Refuge borders the bay in multiple units on the northwest, south, and eastern edges of the bay, and includes most of Long Island. This area offers excellent hiking trails, kayak and water exploring, and year-round wildlife viewing.
